What Is KORHEX? Direct MCU Access for Flex ECU Unlocking, Explained

Magic Motorsport KORHEX direct MCU access hardware for Flex

Today's ECUs carry more hardware and software protection than ever. Getting into and unlocking them often calls for specialized procedures, and sometimes for working directly with the ECU's microcontroller (MCU). That's the job KORHEX was built for: it's Magic Motorsport's hardware for direct MCU access through Flex during supported unlock and Boot Glitch procedures.

What KORHEX is (and isn't)

KORHEX is a hardware extension for the Flex ECU and TCU programmer, and it lives entirely inside the Flex ecosystem. During advanced access, unlock and Boot Glitch procedures, it lets you reach a specific contact point on the microcontroller of supported ECUs.

It is not a standalone programmer. Flex runs the procedure, walks the technician through every step and handles the programming that follows.

How it works

Using KORHEX's dedicated accessories and masks, you place the device on the MCU contact point that the matching Flex procedure identifies. Flex then guides you step by step through access and unlocking. On selected applications, KORHEX uses EMFI (Electromagnetic Fault Injection) to interact with the processor directly. Magic Motorsport says the payoff is a simpler, more controlled and more repeatable workflow with less hands-on work on the control unit.

Less prep on the circuit board

Traditional Boot access can mean a lot of physical work on the ECU board. On supported units, KORHEX removes the need to:

  • Work on the back side of the board
  • Desolder resistors
  • Wire up Boot pins by hand
  • Do the soldering that conventional procedures call for

You set KORHEX on the indicated MCU contact point and follow the guided procedure in Flex. That cuts ECU prep and makes advanced access faster and easier to repeat.

One workflow inside Flex

KORHEX was built specifically for Flex, Magic Motorsport's professional ECU and TCU programmer. Together they open up more of the protected, next-generation ECUs that need advanced MCU access. Every stage stays in Flex: MCU access, then ECU unlock, then programming, including the read and write work that follows.

What you can do with it

Depending on the ECU and its Flex protocol, supported operations can include:

  • Direct MCU access
  • ECU unlocking
  • Boot Glitch procedures
  • Advanced access to protected ECUs
  • EMFI-based procedures
  • Follow-on ECU read and write through Flex

Exactly what's supported depends on the specific ECU, its microprocessor and the Flex protocol.

Which Flex license you need

  • Flex Full: FLS0.5M (Master) or FLS0.5S (Slave)
  • Flex Boot Glitch: FLS0.20M (Master) or FLS0.20S (Slave)

If you already have an eligible Flex Full configuration, supported KORHEX procedures are included. On any other Flex configuration, you can add the FLS0.20M/S Boot Glitch license to reach the supported Boot Glitch protocols.

Which ECUs it supports

KORHEX coverage grows with each Flex release. Compatibility depends on the ECU, MCU, vehicle application and Flex protocol. The list centers on next-generation control units that need advanced access and is updated as new protocols ship, so check the Flex vehicle list to confirm a specific ECU, processor or vehicle.
